On Saturday aftenoon around 4:00pma thnder storm came through the lake which caused several calls. 1st cal was a fire alarm around B25, 2nd call came from a sailboat that took refuge on Byrd's island, but needed assistance. Husband and wife were transported by 11-5 to their home. 3rd call came in for an alarm in Moneta at R24, 11-8 handled that, then a structure fire came in in Bull Run and 11-2 and 11-8 responded, but were canceled in route. All safe and back in quarters.
The Smith Mountain Lake Marine Fire/Rescue is actively seeking new members. Members can be firefighters, EMT's or simply someone that wants to help the community.
